my first GIFs:

Dear Mom,

      Schools going great! I'm making so many new friends here. Classes are so stimulating. Yesterday in class I learned to make animated GIFs. Yeah, you know, those things on The Internet. I even sent you a few! Me and my roommate really hit it off. Last night we laughed so hard I fell out of bed. (ouch, lol!) I've been so busy, I barely have had time to eat. But don't worry, the mess hall here's got lots of healthy choices and I never go hungry. 

      How are things at home? Did you and Dad finally clean out the garage? (ha ha!) You should turn my old bedroom into that sewing room you've always wanted. Really, I don't mind, I always liked the guest room anyway. 

Well I can't write much longer because I've got to get to this ice cream social thingy in the quad. It's going to be so great! Afterwards I'm meeting my study group in the library to share notes from lecture. I sooooo don't get that math class. Oh well, I guess since I'm majoring in PolySci it's not the end of the world.
