so I was taping the dickens Little Dorrit episode today (ha!) and on channel 9 while I was setting it up was your old friend, Lidia Bastianich, remember when you were sick and watching tv at home, and she was making tomato sauce with her hands? Anyway she was making a peach almond tart today, which actually looked quite good, and as I am trying to find it online, I have found our friend Lidia with her hands deep into a salad bowl. recently, i had the pleasure of rewatching one of the best films about a friendship between a little girl and her monkey. really though, monkey trouble has it all: comedy, tragedy, action, gypsies, etc. the cinematography is beautiful, and the risky camera angles are truly avant garde. how thora birch didn't receive oscar recognition for this performance is truly beyond me. if you don't believe me just check out this final scene where eva and dodger are reunited. WARNING: spoiler alert!!!

these were some of my favorite looks from NY fashion week. i must admit, i have a weakness for tulle and full skirts. since i'm already thinking about spring it's hard to wrap my head around these looks right now. i'm saving them all in a folder and i'll dig them back out in a few months when fall comes around again. i've been having a hard time finding good vintage dresses, so new feminine dresses are always on the list. i want to go for the subtle hues in this collection instead of the bright colors i've been wearing lately. i love mixing and matching different pieces to suit my mood, so in today's outfit i tried to be a study in contrasts by mixing high end and vintage pieces. the look is perfect for any political climate (you never know these days) it could be interpreted as patriotic, or ex-patriot--french flag, anyone?

Dear Mom,

Schools going great! I'm making so many new friends here. Classes are so stimulating. Yesterday in class I learned to make animated GIFs. Yeah, you know, those things on The Internet. I even sent you a few! Me and my roommate really hit it off. Last night we laughed so hard I fell out of bed. (ouch, lol!) I've been so busy, I barely have had time to eat. But don't worry, the mess hall here's got lots of healthy choices and I never go hungry.

How are things at home? Did you and Dad finally clean out the garage? (ha ha!) You should turn my old bedroom into that sewing room you've always wanted. Really, I don't mind, I always liked the guest room anyway.

Well I can't write much longer because I've got to get to this ice cream social thingy in the quad. It's going to be so great! Afterwards I'm meeting my study group in the library to share notes from lecture. I sooooo don't get that math class. Oh well, I guess since I'm majoring in PolySci it's not the end of the world.
